Welcome to Middle School ELA/Reading
This year, students will dive into a wide variety of texts, from classic novels to contemporary short stories, as we strengthen essential reading skills aligned with the New York State Standards. Together, we’ll explore both fiction and nonfiction, uncovering themes, analyzing characters, and discovering how authors use language and structure to shape meaning. Along the way, students will build their vocabulary, sharpen their grammar skills, and develop strategies to become confident, thoughtful readers and writers.
Each grade level will engage in novel studies, collaborative discussions, and interactive activities that bring literature off the page and into our daily lives. For our 8th graders, we’ll start the school year preparing for the TACHS exam, ensuring they are ready for success in high school and beyond.
Through curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity, our goal is to foster a lifelong love of reading while empowering every student to find their voice.
